We got a bonus snow day today! They were predicting this storm to hit way south of us, but it veered north and we got some of it, too.

Sam's school and my work both closed, so we got the day off. Sam spent most of it outside, playing in the little bit of snow that we got. It was actually really pretty this morning - big, fat flakes. It just didn't last very long.

He decided at some point that he wanted to sell snowballs, so he found a box and wrote on it and then set up outside next to the curb.

I didn't want to discourage him too much, but I tried to let him know that it was pretty unlikely that people would buy snowballs when they could very easily make their own, yadda yadda yadda...

Silly me. He made five bucks.

My faith in humanity (or at least Denton's humanity) has been restored.

You can see more of my snow pics here.

My yoga class was cancelled for tonight, so I think I might read and do a little organizing. Or maybe I'll just sit my fat butt on the couch and watch tv!

Hey, check out these updated lyrics to that god-awful, ironically(?) non-ironic Alanis Morissette song. They made it ironic for real.

And here's Donal Logue's take on the song...

You texans! Your idea of a snow day just cracks me up!

I know! I couldn't believe they cancelled school. It's insane. But I'm not complaining.

That's awesome that Sam made $5 selling snowballs! I think you may have a salesman on your hands.

That is the cutest thing I have seen in a long time. Who bought them?

His first customers were a car full of college-aged girls. They bought two or maybe just one and let him keep the change.

Next was a young couple who bought two and then threw them at each other.

Next was a car full of 20-somethings, who bought four.

I was picturing the people driving away going, "Now what do we do with these?"

His last customer was my neighbor's boyfriend (also 20-something). Sam said he bought six and I asked if he'd gotten $3. He said, "No. Just a dollar. But it's OK - I can make more!" Sam said he told him he was going to have a snowball fight with his dogs.

So at least some of the youth of Denton have good hearts - that they'd buy snowballs from a little boy...
